Reviews

The stories take place during the early years of Holmes’ career in the 1880s, through the first decades of the twentieth century. From the beginning, his keen observations and astute deductions captivate and challenge the reader.

The subtle clues embedded in descriptive texts and comments are simply delightful. The relationship between the two men is also fascinating to watch as they embark on being roommates at 221B Baker Street. The author has captured the time period well. There are many examples of this, but certainly the various attitudes towards women are portrayed accurately. The spoken language reflects the era, and yet it is easy to read, due to Roger Riccard's skillful writing. Each story is clear, with a smooth flow, even as Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson deal with different socio-economic classes, cultures and geographic locations. Roger Riccard has written a wonderful rendition of a classic hero in A Sherlock Holmes Alphabet of Cases, Volume Three: K-P. This book is highly recommended for anyone who loves a fun and interesting read and who is a Sherlock Homes or historical detective story fan.
